Itinerary

Day 1. Arrival Day to Malaga

Afternoon – bike allocation, condition check, introduction to other tour participants, meeting. By the time you arrive at the airport in Malaga, there will be one of our guides waiting for you already. About a half an hour transfer to Alhaurin el Grande, dinner, meeting and off to bed, tomorrow is an early start……

Day 2. Malaga – Aracena

We start our journey heading north on rural roads between Sevilla ad Cordoba passing countless white villages, olive and citrus groves. Once we reach the Sierra Norte de Sevilla National park, we turn west and continue on beautifully winding country roads through the national park, towards Aracena, famous for the chestnut fed Black Iberian pigs and their locally cured delicious ham, which we will have the opportunity to enjoy over a glass of Rioja.

Day 3. Aracena – Sintra

We start northwest following the river Murtigas to soon enter the region of Alentejo in southern Portugal. We stop for cofee in one of Portugal´s most beautifully preserved medieval towns, Évora, and then continue towards Lisbon. We stop for a picture at Cabo da Roca light house and then head to Sintra.
Sintra is a charming resort town in the foothills of Portugal’s Sintra Mountains, near the capital of Lisbon. A longtime royal sanctuary, its forested terrain is studded with pastel-colored villas and palaces. We aim for early arrival so we have time to explore this fairytale place.

Day 4. Sintra – Manteigas

We start north following the coast and then turn north east towards the Sierra da Estrela, the highest mountain range in Portugal. We hop on a highway for a short distance to safe some time for the exciting mountain roads ahead of us. We spend the afternoon on bendy mountain roads with amazing views until we arrive in our destination in the center of the national park..

Day 5. Manteigas – Porto

We start the day with some exciting riding northwest ,heading back to the Atlantic coast. We will start seeing wine groves all around us as we get closer to Porto, our destination today. The town that gave the country (and port wine) its very name, Porto is Portugal´s most beautiful city. We arrive early enough to explore the city before we head out for a delicious dinner.

Day 6. Porto – La Alberca

Today´s route has it all.The roads, the views, the scenary will take your breath away. Following the majestic river Douro along the steep wine covered hillsides on narrow twisty roads , we pass  little villages spread all over the valley. Early afternoon we cross back into Spain and after Ciudad Rodrigo we reach the Sierra de Francia Natural park .La Alberca, the charming town was founded in the 1300s and was the first village to be declared a National Historical Monument by the Spanish government. A walk around its historic centre gives us a taste of the tradition in its houses and streets. Today surely is one of the memorable days of the trip.

Day 7. La Alberca – Toledo

We start south over the mountain pass of Sierra de Francia and continue along the colossal granite rocks of the Sierra de Gredos mountains. You will be fascinated by the picturesque villages with their little stone houses surrounded by rugged landscape.Later we make a little detour north to Avila, one of the oldest and most beautiful cities in Spain. Its world famous walls stand guard over the centuries-old artistic and cultural heritage found inside. We have a quick lunch and continue to Toledo,  known as the “city of the three cultures”, because Christians, Arabs and Jews lived together there for centuries. Behind its walls Toledo preserves an artistic and cultural legacy in the form of churches, palaces, fortresses, mosques and synagogues. This great diversity  led to it being declared a World Heritage Site.

Day 8. Toledo  – Cordoba

We say good bye to Toledo and ride south towards Ciudad Real on easy sweeping country roads with little traffic. We pass Puerto Llano and reach the Natural park of Sierra de Andujar. The roads are real heaven for every biker and the views are stunning. The traffic is so sporadic, that you can occasionally spot a deer or a mountain goat grassing next to the road. We continue south and turn west to our destination Cordoba, the worlds famous Unesco Heritage site.

Day 9. Cordoba – Malaga

We  continue our journey south to Priego de Cordoba for a cofee. We turn south west and ride through a rural and agricultural areas with lakes and olive groves to the Antequera for lunch. . From here its only a short ride to our hotel back in Alhaurin and then for a farewell dinner on our last evening.
