Tour Description

Czech Republic Motorcycle Tour

The Czech Republic, in Central Europe, is known for its ornate castles, native beers and long history. From the Celtic and Germanic tribes of its founding to the Protestant Reformation and Communism.  Since the fall of communism and the opening up of Central and Eastern Europe, the Czech Republic became one of Europe’s most popular destinations. Prague offers an intact medieval core that transports you back 500 years. The 14th-century Charles Bridge, is one of the continent’s most beautiful sights.  Outside the capital, many towns, castles and palaces are waiting to be discovered. Some famous and some unknown ones, Prague,Karlovy Vary,Lednice, to mention  just few. Including the beautiful hilltop chateau at Český Krumlov, the UNESCO heritage site.

You will get an insight into the best destinations of my homeland. Empty roads, limitless history and architecture, fairy tale castles and  incredible landscapes. Including hearty delicious local food, tasty wine and beer, warm people and great accommodation, this tour has it all.

Itinerary

Day 1. Arrival

We collect you at the airport and take you to the hotel, where you can relax by the pool until our evening briefing with introduction to other tour participants, we finish the paperwork, allocate bikes and go for dinner together to discuss the details of the days to come.

Day 2. Prague – Spindleruv Mlyn

We start our journey west with some easy riding to get used to the bikes. We then turn north and head to a “Czech Switzerland “ national park.  The youngest national park in the Czech Republic is part of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains and, just like its counterpart in Saxony, combines woody hiking trails with unique mountain landscapes.

The most famous symbol of Bohemian Switzerland, the impressive Pravčická brána rock is the largest sandstone arch in Europe and has already served as a film backdrop for “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” due to its uniqueness. We then follow the border with Poland to our destination. Just as France has its Chamonix and the United States its Aspen, the Czech Republic has Špindlerův Mlýn. Simply enjoy one of the most beautiful parts of the highest Czech mountains. Our hotel this evening is the beautiful savoy hotel in the centre of the village.

Day 3. Spindleruv Mlyn – Roznov pod Radhostem

We continue our journey south east through the  Krkonose mountain range into Jeseniky, second highest mountain range in the CZ. Once at destination, we will experience the splendour of folk traditions in Rožnov pod Radhoštěm

An attempt to revive forgotten crafts and folk art as well as recreate traditional life in the Wallach area was behind the creation of the largest and oldest open-air museum in central Europe. The complex contains hundreds of timber structures from the Wallach area. Tonight we will enjoy the delights of local cuisine.

Day 4. Roznov pod Radhostem – Lednice

We continue south but turn west again along the border with Austria. Our aim is early arrival since  will be visiting one of the most impressive Unesco Heritage sites in Czech Republic, The castle Lednice, although the whole area is covered with other less important castles and manors.

Lednice’s massive neo-Gothic chateau, owned by the Liechtenstein family from 1582 to 1945, is one of the country’s most popular destinations. Lednice castle is a majestic, georgeous mansion, exactly the kind of a place you imagine, while listening to:“…once upon a time there was a magnificent castle…“
What you see during a tour in this castle is not original equipment. According to historical materials „it doesn´t correspond with its former splendour“. One can hardly imagine what it used to be like. At the end of the day, we perform some wine tasting in the local wine cellar.

Day 5. Lednice – Cesky Krumlov

We continue on sweeping country roads along the foresty and agricultural southern border with Germany to another breathtaking destination, Cesky Krumlov. If you can fall in love with a place, this is the one.

A town that reaches to the skies above a bend on the River Vltava, Český Krumlov is a pearl of Renaissance architecture and a place where the sumptuousness of the local 13th century castle, maze-like alleyways, richly decorated coats of arms of burghers houses, and wonderful floral gardens are harmoniously interwoven; at the same time, it boasts medieval pubs, ale-houses, galleries and graphite mines.

Day 6. Cesky Krumlov – Karlovy Vary

We turn west and head into the world famous Spa Triangle if Czech Republic. We stop for lunch in a underground beer cellar in one of the local breweries and then continue to another pearl of the Czech republic, the spa  town Karlovy Vary. The incarnation of spa elegance, imposing colonnades, exclusive spa buildings and a wonderful layout in the heart of a forested valley. That is Karlovy Vary. The best known town in the world renowned West Bohemian Spa Triangle, in which some of the most famous figures in European artistic and cultural life have enjoyed treatment, is today the second most visited spot in the Czech Republic. Thanks to its unique architecture, it is one of Europe’s most beautiful spas.

The world famous spa town of Karlovy Vary, also known by its German name of Karlsbad (or Carlsbad in English), was founded in 1350 by the Czech King and Holy Roman Emperor Charles IV.

The town’s visitors over the years have included Casanova,  Ludwig  van  Beethoven,  Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Franz Kafka, Alphonse Mucha and many representatives of the world film industry who come to Karlovy Vary as guests of the International Film Festival held every year in July.

Day 7. Karlovy Vary – Prague

We head west on quiet country roads, passing villages and small towns on our way back to Prague. Yet again we aim to arrive for lunch, so we can enjoy our afternoon exploration of this amazing city. In the evening we will enjoy a feast during our farewell dinner .

You won´t believe that the tour is already over! We hope you have enjoyed discovering this beautiful country.

  1. Lewis Shaw

First, I am a three time winner touring previously with Motoadventours, so I am a committed customer of Hana and her partner, David. The opportunity to see the Czech country from the eyes and experience of a native jewel herself was an opportunity not to be missed. The roads were first class, even the bike path was first class. (That’s a story over a beer.) The bikes were up to date, the rooms and food were superb and the fellowship was worth the trip alone. My buddy and I brought our rain gear based on forecaste but Hana had that under control as fantastic weather followed up everywhere. Our travels had just the right amount of tourists visits and the right amounts of inside insights. This was everything an alpine tour should be with enough twisties to refine your skills but the Czech tour was without the disruptions of tons of tourists and crowded highways. Note: allow extra time for Prague. Take two or three days extra to visit all this exotic and dynamic city offers.

  2. MAURICE

Touring with Hana and David is always a pleasure. The fact that this is Hana’s home country just adds to it all and as usual they made sure everybody was enjoying themselves.

Bikes are first class, excellently maintained and nothing more than 12 months old. Accommodation was always very good quality hotels and well situated. This is a country full of history and as Hana has lived some of it (only a small bit!) and David has an interest in the history of it we were kept well informed, which always makes it so much more interesting.
