Since ancient times, there has been a route through the mountains, valleys and plains that unites the north and south of Spain, when the Romans invaded the Iberian Peninsula in 218 B.C. They gave great importance to the roads covering the whole territory, especially the Silver Route . (The Vía de la Plata). We will ride along parts of the old route enjoying the historic cities , incredible mountain roads and delicious cuisine. Exploring Extremadura is a journey into the heart of old Spain, from the country’s finest Roman ruins to mysterious medieval cities and time-worn villages.
We will collect you at the airport and take you to the hotel, where you can relax until our evening briefing. After an introduction to your fellow riders and bike allocation we will go for dinner to discuss the details of the days to come.
After breakfast we set off on our journey , around Malaga and into the Mountains . The roads and views are breathtaking. We will spend most of the day on quiet secondary roads either riding over mountains or through olive groves. After lunch , near Preigo de Cordoba we are back into the mountains of the Sierras de la Pandera .Our final destination is the majestic city of Jaen . Our hotel for the night is the Parador de Jaen , once a thirteenth century Arab fortress.
This morning ,we leave Jaen heading north-west, riding through the natural park of Sierra de Andujar. After a morning on amazing roads , we will finally cross into Extremadura . Following a relaxing lunch we will ride north across the network of crystal-clear reservoirs before reaching our hotel , the parador of Guadalupe. Guadalupe is a historic village, with cobbled streets and traditional architecture.
We leave behind the breathtaking village of Guadalupe and continue north to Talavera de la Reina. After a coffee we ride to the spectacular National park Sierra de Gredos .We will spend the rest of the day enjoying the sweeping mountain roads and stunning views . Our destination for tonight is the town of Jarrandilla de la Vera. Our hotel is the towns parador , once a 15th century castle .
We start the day in the beautiful Sierra de Gredos Natural Park. After break in Plasencia we continue to National parque of Monfrague, famous for its noted bird-life. We will stop for a bit of bird-watching on the way. We continue to Caceres, the Unesco Heritage city and our destination. We plan to arrive for lunch, so you can spend the afternoon exploring yet another jewel of Spanish history
After breakfast , we will arrange your transfer to the airport or hotel if you extend your holiday in Spain.

Hana and David are wonderful hosts and the tour was fantastic. My son and I rode the 1250’s and were very happy with the choice and nearly new motos which were all in perfect condition.
Our tour was in October of 2021 and though the travel anticipation from the US was anxiety ridden, it turned out to be a non-event with plenty of time for connecting flights to Malaga. We were met with smiles and hugs at the airport and our arrival hotel was very convenient and comfortable. I would recommend the offered upgrade at the front desk which offers a welcome snack, champagne and pool view.
The road selection was a good mix of highway, sweepers and tight-twisties over several mountain passes. I think they saved the best for last! The roads in the vicinity of Ronda were fantastic!
After the first night, all of our hotels were Paradores which I believe are historic properties owned and run by the Spanish government and each incredible for its own legacy. The menu in each of the hotels had a common page and a regional page of offerings, so your favorites were available each night with the ability to be adventurous too.
As restored castles and fortresses, each one was located central to the village or town and most were within the walled section, with cobblestone streets. It was great riding through the narrow streets and archways on the way to home for the night!
We had a fantastic time and it was a life-adventure to share with my son.
Thanks H and D!
